Is This Music Self Indulgent or just rubbish?
It is often considered that to create music we must know how it should sound or should have an idea of what we want to play. We should be aware of the script that we will be using to compose the music. There is a kind of music that is without any goals that is made for self and come directly to us. We don’t make it for a purpose. It can be termed as an aimless music. It is like a feeling that comes to us.
Some times it is referred as a kind of music which gives us peace and self-satisfaction. Generally we prefer the music that can touch our heart and soul and serves us with a soulful experience. We can explain this by taking an example of most popular Japanese music –“Shakahauchi” Shakahauchi is the name of a flute. It is very popular in the east.
It has a peaceful tune in it and every time you hear it, it sounds new. The best part of this music is that it is free to flux and flow and is boundless and has no limitations. In this kind of music the notes are not used again and again. It gets composed when the musician feels good and hearty.
When we listen to this sort of music we can experience the feelings of the musician and feel connected to the music that he plays. It shows the mental state of a musician. It is the expression of feelings through music.
It can be explored again and again and remain fresh and new always. It doesn’t mean that I am against the musical form.
The feelings can only be expressed when we have good knowledge of music and know how to express it. The music with particular aim has there own ways to play it. It has its own fun and enjoyment added to it. It is just that other music theory forms are as enjoyable and fun as the different forms.
